Preview
Utah had no trouble defeating an SEC opponent in Florida in Week 1. They looked especially impressive on defense, which is a great sign considering the Utes should improve on offense when QB Cameron Rising returns from injury. After winning the Pac-12 title in 2 straight seasons, Utah will aim to exit the conference on a threepeat. They’re hoping to get a bowl victory this season too, after losing the past two Rose Bowls.
Welcome to Utah.

Baylor had an awful Week 1 performance against Texas State. Their defense was horrendous, allowing the Bobcats to march down the field and score 6 touchdowns. Despite forcing a couple of turnovers in plus territory the Bears still couldn’t manage to come back as Texas State continued to score throughout the game. Baylor faces a much tougher task against Utah in Week 2, and needs to find a major fix on defense.
Prediction
This is another game where the spread should perhaps be bigger after the Week 1 results. Baylor does have home field advantage in this game, but their inability to stop Texas State does not provide much confidence for their hopes against a much better Utah team. They’ll be facing a tougher Utes defense as well. I don’t see the Bears getting blown out, but I’d be surprised if they lose by less than two scores here.
