Preview

Washington coasted to another win in Week 2 against Tulsa. Their victory was never in doubt, after jumping ahead early in the game. QB Michael Penix Jr. had a solid game, going 28 of 38 for 409 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 INT. While their offense has done well, it’s the defense that has been the most impressive. They face their toughest test of the season so far against the Spartans, before starting Pac-12 play next week.

Michigan State continued to dominate the opposition. They outscored their first two opponents 76-21, but also haven’t face very tough opponents yet. Washington will be a massive step up from that, but also a chance for the Spartans to prove themselves and climb into the Top 25. QB Noah Kim was exceptional in Week 2, completing 18 of 22 passes for 292 yards and 3 TDs. His ability will be crucial against the Huskies.

Prediction

Both of these teams have looked fantastic through their first two games, but also haven’t face tough competition yet. They’ll get a much better test against each other this week. Washington is the better team on paper, and should be able to get the win, but it may not be as easy as expected against a tough Spartans defense on the road. If Noah Kim plays well, I’d expect Michigan State to keep it somewhat close.
