How to Watch
- Pac-12 Network
Preview
Nevada had just 2 wins last season, struggling to overcome the changes in new head coach Ken Wilson’s first season. It was their worst finish since 2000, so the Wolf Pack will be aiming for a complete turnaround in their 2nd year in Wilson’s system. There’s reason to be hopeful that will happen, with Wilson bringing in some key defensive assets to build the defense he desires. Nevada could finish closer to 6-6 this season.

USC started last season 11-1, looking like a real candidate for the CFP. Unfortunately, a bad loss to Utah in the Pac-12 title game sent them to the Cotton Bowl instead, where they went on to lose a close game to Tulane. Luckily for the Trojans, they’ll have one more season of Caleb Williams at QB. Williams won the Heisman last season and is expected to be the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. USC’s ceiling is a CFP title.
Prediction
Despite Nevada’s improvements over the offseason, it will be incredibly difficult for them to pull off this upset. They’ll be playing against a team with a thoroughly better roster, on the road. Throw in Caleb Williams and the Trojans should have an easy win in Week 1. That being said, covering a large spread is a different task. It’s doable, but with a defensive minded coach in Wilson, I could see the Wolf Pack covering.
