Preview
SMU won their 8th straight game last week, climbing to 10-2 on the season. They finished undefeated against conference opponents, but never matched up against the other top two teams in the American. Even so, they posted an impressive schedule, filled with stellar offensive performances. The Mustangs face their toughest conference test so far against Tulane in this game, and need their defense to stay hot.

Tulane capped off another excellent season with a strong win over UTSA. Both teams entered the game undefeated in conference play, but the Green Wave emerged on top. They face a similar task this week against an SMU team with no conference losses. Tulane’s only loss of the season came against #11 Ole Miss, in a game they didn’t have QB Michael Pratt for. They could be on their way to another NY6 Bowl.
Prediction
Both of these teams stormed past their AAC competition this year, claiming an undisputed spot in the title game. After going 23-3 over the past two seasons, Tulane is definitely the favorite in this game. Their experience on both sides of the ball will make them a tough team to beat. SMU can’t be counted out, but they struggled in the two games they faced tougher competition in. I’ll take the Green Wave to win it here.
