Preview
Troy had an inconsistent performance against their FCS opponent in Week 1. Entering the game as 26-point favorites, the Trojans quickly jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the 1st quarter. Unfortunately, sloppy play allowed Stephen F. Austin to bring the score back to 24-20 soon after. Troy finished with 300 more yards on offense, but also turned the ball over four times. They need to secure the ball much better in Week 2.

Kansas State had no trouble in their opener against an FCS team, winning 45-0. It was another strong showing for a defense that has been among the Big-12’s best over the past few seasons. The Wildcats have a good chance to repeat as Big-12 champions this season, currently sitting as the 2nd-highest ranked team in the conference. They’ll need to avoid a potential disappointment against the Trojans.
Prediction
Troy opened the season receiving some AP Poll votes, as they were expected to be among the best group of 5 teams this season. Their first game of the season didn’t provide a ton of confidence, but I still think the Trojans will be good this year. That being said, they’ll be completely outmatched against a top-15 squad in Kansas State this week. I’ll take the Wildcats to win it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Troy covers.
