Italian Super Cup 2024 Odds and Betting Guide

header-soccer-italy-super-cup

The Supercoppa Italiana or the Italian Super Cup is a prestigious and young competition established in 1988. It is the match between the Serie A champion and the winner of the Italian Cup, which often takes place one week before the start of the championship.

If there by any chance, one club wins both competitions, the runner-up from the Cup takes place in this event. That was something often seen, especially in the last few years, during Juventus’ domination.

History

The first Supercoppa Italiana took place in 1988, with AC Milan defeating Sampdoria with 3-1. Sampdoria had the chance to win the trophy next year, but again one club from Milan was lethal for them. This time it was Inter.

The most successful team in this competition is Juventus, who won 8 trophies in 15 appearances. AC Milan is right behind with 7 pieces of silverware, while Inter and Lazio have five. Roma and Napoli have two each, with Sampdoria, Parma and Fiorentina all capturing one trophy. Two teams who played this competition and didn’t manage to post a win are Torino and Vicenza.

When looking at the more detailed statistics, we can see that the Seria champions won 22 times in 32 games, winners of the Cup 8 times, and two Cup runners-up also managed to reach the trophy. On both occasions that were Lazio, who is the current holder champion of Supercoppa Italiana.

Games Abroad

The Italian Super Cup had 11 editions outside the native country. Four times that happened in China, two times in the USA, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, and once in Tripoli. The first one played abroad was in 1993 in Washington, DC. Over the last few seasons, it is almost regular to see this game played in either China or somewhere in the Middle East. The previous two took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Italian FA uses this competition to increase the popularity of Italian football, and that especially goes for the past few years.

Betting on the Italian Super Cup

Because we have just one game here, the majority of the bets are pretty much regular and the same as with any other matches. The only difference is that there is an option fo betting on the winner of the competition. Here are the most popular bets:

  1. Winner
  2. Full-Time result
  3. Over/Under
  4. Both Teams to Score

Tips and Tricks When Betting

Since we see that the games played over the last few years take place outside Italia, we suggest that you check out the type of the surface. If it is artificial, the game is much faster, meaning that there are more chances for goals.

Also, check out the potential lineups. Even though this is a match for the trophy, you have to realize that the managers want to experiment in these games too. So have that on your mind.
